This week, we looked at what different campuses in the nation have been working on in resilience. Other colleges, especially ones that are frequently hit by natural disasters, made a lot of efforts into equipping their students for natural disasters, such as distributing emergency guidelines and cooperating with NGOs to organize training programs for students in cases of natural disaster. It gives us a good reference on what we can do in UCLA.
We also met with our stakeholder, Nurit Katz , to talk about physical projects related to resilience that we can potentially conduct on campus. Some interesting ideas we thought of are to set up rain capture system in parking lots and to improve the Bruinalert System. We are really excited about the prospects of spearheading community resilience projects on campus!
