This week our team spent time getting acquainted with Sage Hill, the undeveloped area behind the dormitories where we will be conducting our research. Sage Hill has a storied past as the subject of much dispute -- no one has ever known quite what to do with it. Our stakeholder, the eccentric Tom Gillespie, has been a longtime advocate for keeping Sage Hill as a natural area, and he got our team, and some of his students, down and dirty climbing hills, digging holes, and planting trees. It was awesome. After getting the feel for the area, our team met and discussed the direction of our research. We are excited to study the relationships between specific plants and health indicators of specific zones within Sage Hill.
