Since both our focus groups and completion of general survey, we have begun to analyze and truly understand our data in order to find the best path to increase ridership on the Hill. About a week ago we met with Alison Kanny, the campus survey guru. We had a lot of questions for her but she was very patient, helpful and even encouraged us to spread the word about her guidance. Since we were unsure when we should actually end the surveying process, she helped us figure out whether our data was actual representative of the Hill population. To do this we compared the personal information we collected from survey takers (i.e. year, gender, residence hall) with the averages from the Hill. Next, she aided us greatly in coding our data. This will allow us to use broader and more comparative platforms to show trends in out data. We are currently finishing that process and will have some nice graphs and numbers to show for both our meeting with Hill executives and the final project presentation!
We also met early last Wednesday with our stakeholders after missing a week due to illness. We were very eager to show them our developments, thanks to Alison as well, as all the really interesting ideas we gathered from the focus groups. After that meeting, we set our sights on three very exciting but also viable projects: distribution of bike products such as patch kits, u-locks and lights to the Hilltop store, creation of a Hill biking listerv and possibly a biking representative to manage it, and a bike repair station on the Hill. We are currently in the midst of navigating through the processes for each of these. Jacob recently went to the Team Green meeting to discuss the possibility of implementing a bike rep in their group. He said it seemed promising because they were thinking about creating more specific jobs. We are now connecting with both our stakeholder, Emma Sorrell and our old friend Josh O’connor, who are both advisors for Team Green.
We are very excited for the next couple of weeks and are working quickly to try to complete all our projects!
