Team Energy is so excited for Spring Quarter! With our main campaign and educational events around the corner, we are ready to make UCLA a more energy efficient campus. With the creative minds of our team members, we have created inspirational signs to motivate the people of UCLA to take the stairs for both health and the environment.
Just last week, during our ART team leader meeting, we heard an inspirational story from Cully Nordby, the Academic Director of the IoES. While with a group of people who were waiting for the elevator, she insisted on taking the stairs instead. Due to her decision of taking the stairs, others decided to follow suit. Cully made us realize that it takes one person to make a difference. She not only saved energy by avoiding the elevator, but she also led a group of people to realize that the stairs are an option too! With the power of one person, big differences can be made. Therefore, we hope with a team of five, we will impact the decisions of many people on campus.
In addition to our research this quarter, our main events are also right around the corner. We will soon be meeting with Audrey Vinant-Tang, the coordinator of E3’s Ecochella (the first bike-powered concert at UCLA)! She will be telling us the roles each of our team members will be filling in order to best collect energy data at the event. As for Earth Day, we are finishing up our trivia questions and are on the search for eco-friendly prizes.
