Earth day is less than a week away! SFS team is beyond excited to participate in this upcoming Earth Day Fair, hosted by UCLA’s E3: Ecology, Economy, and Equity. We will use the power of education and research to inform others about food waste. This week we are all busting out our creative juices to construct a fun interactive game, make a silly and informative video, write a survey, and create festive posters and flyers that will showcase our purpose and mission.
We have divided our team in half so that three team members will be working the first shift at the fair from 10am to 12pm and the other three team members will work the second half of the shift until 2pm. Each person on our team has his/her designated tasks depending on his/her own area of interest and expertise. Maddy has been working on forming a survey that will help us assess and understand how people are influenced in their choice of food. Hannah and Gabby are whipping up some stylish posters that will hopefully attract fair goers to stop by our table. Joseph and Katie are teaming up to design a game that will potentially blow people’s minds away! It will be educational, informative, and possibly quite nostalgic! Alice is on her way to becoming a youtube star as her newest video on how to properly eat an apple goes viral! But really, we are all pumped up to celebrate this magnificent planet.
Looking further down the road, our team leaders have been working with our stakeholder to arrange another audit at one of our focused dining halls. However, this audit will be different from the ones we conducted last quarter. Since our attention is on education and outreach this quarter, we are planning to hold a “No Food Left Behind Challenge.” More details will be covered in the next few weeks so stay tuned!
