Alas, winter quarter is coming to a close. Now that we are done auditing attendee behavior at Pauley Pavilion, we are writing a paper to conclude our results and provide suggestions to reduce the amount of trash that goes to landfill. This paper serves as a checkpoint; it will help us gauge what we still need to achieve our goals. It is also an opportunity to share our findings with the ESLP ART community.
Now that we understand how people are handling trash, it will be easier to educate them. Our team is currently designing awesome educational signage to be debuted at Dance Marathon. For this event, we will measure how effective each sign is at getting dancers to properly sort their trash. UCLA is all about working hard and playing hard; even though the students are dancing 26 hours away, they will also be learning about sustainability at the same time.
