As the quarter comes to a close, the Green Buildings Team is getting closer to our goal of LEED certifying the Hill. We have already divided up the credits, figured out what documents we have and which ones we still need, and inputted much of the data into credit forms. In order to obtain the needed data, we have begun to make surveys. These surveys consist of either a form of needed data points or a more traditional survey where students or occupants can answer a series of questions. We will be compiling these surveys and responses over the remainder of the quarter. Friday morning, we met with our stakeholder, Todd Lynch, to clarify the survey process and format. We will create a template for one survey and use this to complete the others.
Since the midterm report and presentation is approaching quickly, we have been working on organizing our accomplishments thus far and putting together our presentation. I’ll be focusing on explaining the background of what LEED actually is and how one goes about LEED certifying a building. Justin will be speaking about our future plans for next quarter while Alexandra will address some of the challenges we experienced this quarter and how we overcame them. Both Claire and Danh will be working on the introduction as well as the methodology behind our project.
In the next month or so, we are planning on going to another symposium, similar to last week's Green Building symposium at UCLA. But this time it’ll be in downtown Los Angeles! This expo focuses on water conservation as well as the newest sustainable innovations in green building.
